“Alexander Scriabin is one of the brightest figures in Russian musical culture,” said People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan, Polina Tsokurenko, summarizing the results of the piano competition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of A. Scriabin. “Over these days, the participants got to know the composer’s works and expanded their musical horizons. Ahead of us are more competitions dedicated to great Russian composers. Take part and become ambassadors of Russian culture!”

The competition was held from December 12 to 15, 2022, at the Kyrgyz National Conservatory named after Kaly Moldobasanov. Fifteen young musicians aged 18 to 27 from Bishkek, Osh, and Chui region advanced to the final round. The winners were determined based on the results of two competition stages.

The winners performed in the gala concert of the competition, where works by A. Scriabin, L. Beethoven, W. Mozart, S. Rachmaninoff, and other composers were presented.

Altynai Ibraimova, First Prize laureate: “It’s always a great responsibility to take part in competitions. It requires a lot of preparation. Scriabin’s music is unique. You need to deeply understand it, feel it, and put your soul into it. I hope I managed to do that.”

On the same day, Russian pianist and international competition laureate Alexey Kholodov gave a master class for the contestants in the Small Hall of the conservatory.

“Holding such competitions is very important for the cultural life of the city,” the musician noted. “It was an inspiring event for young musicians. Performing such music provides invaluable experience for pianists.”
