At the Kyrgyz National Conservatory, the Department of General Piano holds a special position, as it encompasses all students except those from the Department of Special Piano. Since the very first year of the Conservatory’s foundation (1993), this performing discipline was included in the curriculum as a mandatory subject. The foundations of pianistic performance and pedagogical experience have been passed directly from teacher to student, ensuring the continuous succession of traditions that trace back to the art of the most prominent figures in world musical culture.
Over the years, the department has been headed by A.V. Yurtaev, E.K. Shergalieva, Z.V. Nam, K.L. Nadyirshina, and S.I. Amanbaev.
The teaching staff of the Department of General Piano maintains an exceptionally high level of professional achievement in many areas of musical art (pedagogical, concert performance, scientific-methodological, musical-educational, and others). Most of the teachers have been awarded Certificates of Honor and titles of Laureates at prestigious international and national competitions.
The department makes a significant contribution to the development of musical education traditions at the conservatory. The content of students’ performance training is creatively universal — along with studying piano works, special attention is paid to improving accompaniment and ensemble skills, sight-reading, transposition, and many other essential professional skills of musicians. The creative focus of the course is reinforced by the regular organization of student improvisation competitions, open concerts, and musical gatherings.
One of the brightest aspects of the department's life is its active musical and educational outreach, involving both teachers and students. Many of the department’s teachers perform solo and chamber-instrumental programs on concert stages throughout the country.

The teachers of the Department of Humanities conduct a comprehensive set of social science disciplines. An important place in the department’s activities is occupied by various forms of extracurricular work: supervision of student academic societies and the Young Lecturer School; organization of student theoretical and methodological conferences; conducting socio-political practice; involving the majority of students in competitions on social science topics, and more. Alongside teaching and scientific work, the faculty members are also actively involved in public life at the conservatory.
Over the years, the department has been headed by M.T. Tagiev and R.R. Sultanmamitova.
The department has become a center for extracurricular and educational work with students.
Favorable conditions are maintained at the department for the personal growth of every individual.
Currently, the department includes: Head of Department, Candidate of Historical Sciences R.G. Nurmametov, Candidate of Juridical Sciences V.V. Gerasko, Senior Lecturer L.K. Toktonalieva, Lecturer Toktogul kyzy Nurzada, Lecturer E. Kasymbekova, who ensure the educational process for the training of specialists.
The department’s faculty conduct classes (lectures, seminars, and practicals) in the following subjects: national history, geography of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz language, Russian language, Manas studies, philosophy, copyright law, physical education, and foreign languages.
In the learning process, the faculty shape the general cultural competencies of future specialists, their readiness for professional and personal self-realization in the context of the complexities of the modern world, understanding and acceptance of Kyrgyzstan’s historical path, civic responsibility, and involvement in current events. Special attention is paid to fostering a scientific-philosophical worldview in students; cultivating a rigorous style of modern scientific thinking; and mastering, both theoretically and practically, the principle of humanism. Another important goal is the aesthetic development of the student’s personality, fostering readiness and the ability to see, appreciate, and preserve the beauty of the world.
All teachers professionally conduct their disciplines, constantly improve their teaching skills, and regularly undergo professional development. The team, relying on accumulated experience, conducts teaching, research, and educational activities in accordance with the norms and traditions of the Conservatory.

The Department of Chamber Ensemble and Accompanist Class was established simultaneously with the founding of the Kyrgyz National Conservatory in 1993.
The first head of the department was Y.B. Kuznetsov, Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, Professor.
In 2008, the department was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Ch.N. Imanbaeva.
Since 2010, the department has been led by Acting Associate Professor V.G. Timoshenko, who holds this position to the present day.
From the very beginning, the department has employed the best musicians and teachers of the Kyrgyz Republic: A.A. Novikov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences T.M. Baltabaeva, L. Soboleva, Sh.Yu. Narbekov, D.Ya. Bronner, G. Toktogulova, N. Dyikanbaeva.
The department regularly holds concerts dedicated to the anniversaries of outstanding composers and pianists, various lecture-concerts, as well as concerts involving students and teachers of the conservatory, and students of music colleges and schools across the republic.
