Specialization: "Orchestral String Instruments"
The applicant must:
a) Perform a prepared program, the level of difficulty of which corresponds to the graduation requirements of a music college or a specialized secondary music school. The program must include:

Performance Program Requirements
VIOLIN
The applicant must perform:

Two etudes: one focused on various bowing techniques, the other on finger dexterity or double stops (for example, from collections by A. Lyadov – 24 Etudes with piano; 24 Caprices; J. Dont, Op. 35; etudes by P. Gavinies, R. Kreutzer, N. Paganini, H. Wieniawski, as well as Soviet composers: A. Grozovsky, V. Sher, K. Mostras, K. Rodionov, etc.)

Two movements from sonatas or partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach (one fast, one slow)

The 1st or II–III movements of a concerto, for example: H. Wieniawski – Concerto No. 2, C. Saint-Saëns – Concerto No. 3, F. Mendelssohn, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Prokofiev, D. Kabalevsky, A. Khachaturian, etc.

Three short-form pieces by Russian, Soviet, or foreign composers (one cantilena, one fast), and works by Kyrgyz composers

In addition, the applicant must be able to play all types of scales and arpeggios (three-octave scales in thirds, sixths, octaves, and tenths) at a moderate tempo.
VIOLA
The applicant must perform:

Two etudes: one for double stops (for example, by B. Campagnoli, I. Palashko, Op. 77; R. Kreutzer; M. Terian)

One or two movements from sonatas or partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach, transcribed for viola (for example: Allemande and Courante from Partita No. 3, Sarabande from Partita No. 1, Adagio from Sonata No. 1)

DOUBLE BASS
The applicant must perform:

Two etudes of different character (for example: etudes by I. Grabe, R. Kreutzer, F. Simandl)

The 1st or II–III movements of a sonata or concerto (for example: concertos by E. Sterkh, F. Simandl, sonatas by B. Marcello, A. Ariosti, A. Corelli, etc.)

One short-form piece of moderate difficulty by a Russian or Soviet composer (for example: A. Vasiliev – Melody; P. Tchaikovsky – Nocturne; K. Moldobasanov – “Joyful Dance”, Humoresque)

In addition, the applicant must know all basic positions and first thumb positions, all main bowing techniques; play two- and three-octave scales and arpeggios at a moderate tempo.

Entrance Requirements for Music-Theoretical Disciplines
Solfeggio (oral):

Singing scales in keys with 1 to 5 accidentals: two types of major and three types of minor, chromatic major scale up and down, chromatic minor scale up; all types of triads and seventh chords with inversions and resolutions, as well as harmonic progressions including up to six chords;

Sight-singing a single-voice melody in major or minor with chromatic (altered) degrees, possible deviations and modulation to related keys, in simple and complex meters, with various rhythmic difficulties; two-voice examples of harmonic or polyphonic texture, including chromaticism and modulations (one voice played, the other sung);

Harmony (oral):

Performing tasks at the piano: playing modulations to closely related keys in the form of a period (the applicant may be given an initial harmonic progression to perform the modulation); playing tonal and modulating sequences (2–4 chords in a segment);

Harmonic analysis at sight of works in various styles. The complexity of the harmonic language should not exceed the following level: L. Beethoven — sonatas; P.I. Tchaikovsky — “The Seasons”; M.I. Glinka, P.I. Tchaikovsky, S.V. Rachmaninoff;

DEPARTMENT OF STRING INSTRUMENTS
The Department of String Instruments at the Moldobasanov Conservatory was established in 1993 with the opening of the conservatory. The department includes classes for violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
From the very beginning, the department was staffed by the best musicians and teachers of the Kyrgyz Republic: V. Alyabyev (viola), R. Zaitsev (violin), K. Bekmuratov (violin), M. Atageldiev (violin), A. Novikov (violin), K. Tulegenov (double bass), T. Turkmenov, Zh. Maldybaev, A. Tashibaeva.
The department was headed by: Associate Professor V. Alyabyev, K. Kangeldieva.
The department graduates highly qualified specialists — performers and teachers — who work successfully in orchestras and ensembles, and are employed in music educational institutions both in the Kyrgyz Republic and abroad (Germany, Russia, USA, Kazakhstan, Costa Rica, Turkey).
Currently, the department staff includes:
Slenzak-Begalieva — Professor, Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of Department; K. Kangeldieva, E. Asanaliev — People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic; A. Shapovalova, B. Akibaeva (viola), E. Bakhchiev, Zh. Kasymova.
The department regularly holds string music concerts and thematic events with participation of both teachers and students. The department is an initiator of various instrumental music competitions. Nine International Young Performers Competitions "ArsPolonia", five Chamber Ensemble Competitions "ArsPolonia-Camerata", the "LionsClub" Violin Competition, String Instruments Competitions (2005, 2009), competitions for the best performance of works by various composers, and summer creative master classes with international musicians (2011–2015) have been held. The department prepares students to participate in international competitions and master classes. Students participate in youth inter-orchestras within the framework of the "TÜRKSOY" project.
The department's teachers are invited as jury members of international competitions, as well as chairpersons of State Examination Commissions.
