The French Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul-Malak,
has awarded the title of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters to
Murabek Begaliev, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic.
This was announced by the French Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Order of Arts and Letters was established in 1957
to honor individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of art or literature,
or in the promotion of these fields in France and around the world.
The prestige of this award is upheld by its strict selection criteria and limited number of recipients.
The official award ceremony will take place on November 18.
Murabek Begaliev was born on June 21, 1955.
He is a composer, educator, public and state figure,
and the rector of the Kyrgyz National Conservatory named after Kaly Moldobasanov.
He is a recognized leader of Kyrgyzstan’s contemporary school of composition
and has trained more than 30 professional composers.
